Anthony Procopio Ross is a writer, photographer, and educator working in
Kansas City, Missouri.
He endeavors to help others realize the community-enriching & life-sustaining powers of art.
Weaving together the worlds of writing, teaching, and visual art.
Anthony’s poems have found homes in a wonderful array of hands (and screens!), in publications such as The Inflectionist Review, The McNeese Review, Laurel Review, Passengers Journal, and Beaver Magazine. He is working diligently on seeking publication for his first full-length collection of poems & chapbook.
Anthony is a Co-Editor for the Bear Review, and President & Poetry Editor for deadpeasant: a journal of arts and writing.
Anthony built a strong foundation for his writing career by earning his MFA in poetry from MNSU, Mankato. While there he was awarded the 2021-22 Andreas Creative Writing Fellowship, an opportunity to teach creative writing at the collegiate setting for two semesters, and a chance to read poems as a part of the Good Thunder Reading Series with poet, Ross Gay. He’d recommend this institution with two thumbs pointed toward the sky, smiling while he did so.
Presently, he teaches writing at the college level. Anthony has hosted creative writing workshops catering to a diverse range of participants, from adults with developmental disabilities to high school students and coffee shop patrons. Doing so brings him joy.
His creative pursuits extend beyond the written word, as he endeavors to capture the spirit of Kansas City through his photography. Focusing on landscapes, architecture, and people, his images tell a visual narrative of the cities he calls/called home. His artistic interests also appear through the creation of flyers and covers for literary arts journals & events. He’d love to design yours.
