"Literary Lens: A Poetry, Photography, & Interview Zine of the KCMO Literary Community"

In 2023, I proposed a dream project of mine to the ArtsKC foundation. I was fortunate enough to win an Inspiration Grant, which allowed me to run a DIY Zine operation by myself. Through creating, curating, and distributing shareable art objects, I was able to showcase a few of Kansas City's stellar poetry communities.

Take a look at a few pages from the final project below. Feel free to reach out if you want the complete physical copy or have questions about the zine-making process.

This project underwent a remarkable transformation from its original vision, particularly in my approach to zine publication. I transitioned from the idea of producing a single, comprehensive zine to creating multiple, event-focused microzines. This change allowed me to capture the local poetry scene's vibrancy and diversity in real-time, providing a more immediate connection with the project’s audience. Despite this shift, I successfully published a comprehensive zine, too. By focusing on enhancing my photography and zine-making skills through these smaller projects, I was able to produce a full-scale, compendium-esque zine that genuinely represents the essence of Kansas City, MO’s community.
